The GOALS Project was founded in 2010 by Tasha Thompson. As a teen parent, Tasha was faced with the overwhelming challenge of raising a child while trying to accomplish her own educational goals. After overcoming her struggles and achieving success, Tasha, along with a team of mentors and volunteers, now provides support and empowerment to other teen parents through the GOALS program.
GOALS aims to increase graduation rates among teen parents in the Champaign-Urbana area by promoting education at the high school level and beyond. By providing teen parents with the tools and resources they need to fulfill their educational aspirations and enter the workforce, we are also empowering them to contribute to the economic vitality of the community. The skills and knowledge they develop through the GOALS program will prepare them to become productive members of society, open up new job opportunities, and create a better standard of living for themselves and their children.
We’re in the news! One of our moms was interviewed by Champaign’s WCIA channel 3 about getting a job after attending GOALS workshops.
